Making an impact in EYFS: Using the outdoors to promote ‘Understanding of the World’ RP029
This course will help you use the outdoor environment to support teaching and learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage and create a stimulating context for young children to ‘Understand the World’.
Summary
Taking learning outdoors has many benefits and a positive impact on children’s wellbeing. To really ‘Understand the World’ around them, children need to be immersed in the wonders of the great outdoors and engage in a range of activities which promote the characteristics of effective learning. Identify ways to develop your outdoor environment to increase learning opportunities in the physical and natural world and consider how this context can be a stimulus for the development of children’s mathematical, language and communication skills.
