This course will help develop confidence in delivering Computing Science related lessons in your setting, through encouraging play-based experiences using Sphero indi.
Summary
This course will provide an introduction to Sphero indi and how this resource can be used in an Early/First level setting to enhance engagement in Computing Science principles and concepts.
We will encourage hands on practical experience with indi via live sessions and self-study resources. There will also be a focus on developing an understanding of different pedagogical approaches, whilst considering the impact of play-based and cross-curricular learning, along with unplugged activities.

Who is it for?
Practitioners at the Nursery, Early or First Level who are interested in developing computing science learning using Sphero indi in their setting.
What topics are covered?
Computing Science concepts: algorithms, pattern recognition, decomposition, debugging.
How will you learn?
Learning will take place as a mix of guided activities becoming familiar with the resource and CS concepts (live online), as well as self-study/gap tasks to reinforce and expand your learning.

Outcomes
Participants will:
- consider various Computing Science concepts and pedagogical approaches, and better understand the necessity and benefits of early engagement
- develop knowledge of the indi resource to plan, implement and evaluate play-based learning experiences for learners
- enhance learner experiences through introducing unplugged activities as a foundation for embedding CS concepts and understanding
