Summary
This course is aimed specifically at design and technology subject leaders and teachers with a strong interest in leading design and technology. You will gain a deeper understanding of the aims of the curriculum, develop your own subject knowledge and identify the role subject leaders’ play in developing a whole school approach to teaching the programmes of study for KS1 and KS2.
Day 1: What are the key roles for subject leadership and what is the place of DT in a Broad and Balanced curriculum? Delegates will consider their school’s Intent, implementation and Impact for DT. As well opportunities to identify solutions to potential challenges facing the teaching of DT in schools.
Day 2: Delegates will review their own DT curriculums to ensure pupils are offering a genuine and progressive DT experience that effectively develops their pupils DT capability. Delegates will be introduced to a range of formative and summative assessment approaches that will also support the effective monitoring of the subject.
