With objectives in mind: guide to science 5 - 13
Science 5/13 was a project sponsored jointly by the Schools Council, the Nuffield Foundation and Scottish Education Department, and based at the University of Bristol School of Education. It aims at helping teachers to help children between the ages of five and thirteen years to learning science through first-hand experience using a variety of methods.
The project produced books, most of which comprise units of work dealing with subject-areas in which children are likely to conduct investigations. These units are linked by objectives that we hope children will attain through their work. This book, however, is different. In it we discuss the thinking that informs our way of working, and we show how we have arrived at the guide to Objectives for Children Learning Science, printed at the back of the book.
