Gravitational potential energy

This video begins by introducing the three forms of potential energy (gravitational, electric and elastic). The formula Ep=mgh is derived by applying Newton’s second law (F=mg) and work done (w=Fs).

Kinetic energy

This video explains that moving objects have kinetic energy (Ek) and shows how Ek is proportional to both the mass and velocity of an object.

By combining the formulae F=ma and W=Fs to obtain W=mas and using v2=u2 + 2as (assuming u2=0), Ek=...

Efficiency

This video uses a comparison between an LED light and filament bulb to introduce efficiency (η).

The equation, %efficiency (η) = (useful energy out/total energy in) x100 is explained and then linked to rate of energy transfer (P=E/t).

Polarisation of waves

This video explains the difference between unpolarised light and plane polarised light in terms of using a slit to eliminate unwanted electric wave orientations. It is a continuation of Electromagnetic waves: why they are transverse....
