Probability – Does It Clarify or Confuse?

This activity is produced by the Maths Magic project. Probability – Does It Clarify or Confuse? provides examples and ideas for discussing situations where probability helps in decision making, and situations where the mathematics of probability is counter intuitive. This activity allows learners to interrogate common sense approaches to probability. The teaching notes link to a file of statements featuring common misconceptions about calculating probability. Students have to discuss whether the statement on the card is correct or incorrect and explain why.
