Teacher’s Manual
The Young Scientist Investigates Teacher’s Manual contains a guide for the preparation of all lessons, advice on how to develop the themes and suggestions for further work. It begins with some historical background information about science in the primary school, paying tribute to the ground-breaking topic of the 1960s. Indeed the Science 5/13 units for teachers are frequently referenced in the guidance for the themes in the course books.
The bulk of the manual sets out, for each unit of the course books, the aims, science background, materials and equipment, reference books for teachers and children, suggestions for class management answers to questions in the students’ texts and ideas for extending the learning. Safety measures are included where relevant. This manual provides a thorough support for the teacher, enabling a more active experience for children beyond reading the children’s texts.
