Number Lines

This series of interactive excel sheets aimed at Reception students explores number lines. Answers can be checked each time and new questions generated at the click of a button.

The first sheet can be used to rehearse counting up to 10.

The next three sheets explore addition using number lines. The first sheet demonstrates adding two digits using ‘lollipops’. The second sheet shows how to add two numbers using a series of ‘jumps’ on a number line. The third sheet uses just one ‘jump’ on the number line for the sum of two digits.

The fourth sheet can be used to rehearse counting down from 10.

The next three sheets explore subtraction using number lines. The first sheet demonstrates taking away using ’lollipops’. The second sheet shows how to subtract two numbers using a series of ‘jumps’ on a number line. The third sheet uses just one ‘jump’ on the number line to take away one number from another.

The final sheet generates a series of five addition or subtraction questions. Students have to select the answers and match them with the correct question.

Note:
This program was designed to be viewed on a screen with a resolution of 1024 x 768. Users may have to adjust the resolution of their screen for the pages to display as was originally intended. The program uses macros which need to be enabled on the users machine.
