Exploring mathematics: introducing algebra

If you remember that letter or symbols can be used instead of numbers, and can be treated as numbers are in Arithmetic, you will not find the early pages of this book difficult.

Later you will be introduced to simple equations and you will be shown how to simplify expressions.

Finally you will meet a number of problems which can be solved very easily by using Algebra but which are otherwise quite difficult.
